My Study Abroad Bucket List & A Cozy Travel Look
At this time next week I'll be in London eating amazing food and sipping cocktails! I'm so excited I can hardly stand it! I seriously cannot even believe that I get to live in Europe for three and a half months. I've been to London before so I'm very excited to return, but I've never visited anywhere else in Europe. I have a good idea of the different places I want to visit, but I'd love to get your recommendations in the comment section below!
TOP 5 PLACES I WANT TO SEE...
Austria -- The Sound of Music is my all-time favorite movie I could seriously watch it a million times! Before the von Trapp family escaped the Nazis into Switzerland they lived in Salzburg, Austria. Salzburg is also the location where the Sound of Music movie was filmed. There is a tour company in Austria that allows you to travel around via many different modes of transportation to see the sights where they filmed.
Germany -- History has always been one of my favorite subjects. World War II is definitely my favorite historical subject to study and I've probably read dozens of books about the topic. My dad is also hoping to fly over for Oktoberfest (mom may not exactly be on board with this though).
France -- This country has always seemed so incredibly dreamy to me. As a little girl I fantasized about walking around Paris eating macarons under the Eiffel Tower (still do). Where better to eat macarons than at Ladurée the creator of the macaron? Other than eating copious amounts of food I can't wait to visit the Musée du Louvre and finally see so many of their incredible exhibits. I mean to see da Vinci and Botticelli in person would be so amazing!
Greece -- Okay so yes a lot of my travel spots are based on some of my favorite movies and books. But who doesn't want to see the beautiful, clear waters of Greece after watching Mamma Mia? Also the amazing sacred spots dedicated to different Greek gods and goddesses make my 11 year-old Percy Jackson loving self so excited.
Ireland -- Obviously the beautiful Cliffs of Moher are a must see! Ireland is also home of the oldest bar in the world. How cool is that? I'd love to take a tour of the Guinness factory while I'm there too. FUN FACT: We had a thirty pound cat when I was little and his name was Guinness!
6 OTHER PLACES I'D LIKE TO VISIT...
Italy -- We are taking a trip here next summer so this is not at the top of my travel list, but I'd love to see Positano.
Netherlands -- I'd love to explore Amsterdam it's beautiful canals. What are some other must see sites here?
Czech Republic -- I think the architecture here is stunning it would be amazing to see in person!
Switzerland -- My aunt and uncle lived here for a few years when I was younger and I always wanted to visit them. The mountains and landscapes there look absolutely breathtaking.
Iceland -- The Northern Lights have always been a must see on my bucket list. They are visible from September to April so if the weather and solar activity are right I really hope I can see them.
Spain -- My friend just got back from studying abroad in Madrid a few months ago and she raves about how amazing the city was. The food and historic sites in this country look amazing.
I've never traveled around Europe before so I'd really appreciate any tips or tricks y'all could share below. If you have any recommendations for the places I've listed above I'd love to hear those as well. Where to eat, what to see, where to stay--tell me all the things! You can leave them in a comment below, text me, direct message me on Instagram, email me! I officially leave the night of September 3rd and I'm so so excited!!
