A Look Back At 2018
I wanted to start the year off healthier than I had been in 2017 so I decided to do Whole30. It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, especially making time to eat healthy with my busy schedule at school. I honestly really did not like Whole30 and will probably never do it again, but it taught me a lot about myself.
I adventured around State College and took professional pictures for my blog with my amazingly talented friend, Sarah. I served as a Rules and Regulation committee member for THON 2018. Penn State Dance Marathon raised $10,151,663.93 for the Four Diamonds.
I traveled to Hawaii for spring break and it was my first time leaving the continental United States. Horseback riding in the mountains in Maui was one of the most amazing experiences I’ve ever had. Maui was incredible!!
I LAUNCHED MY BLOG!! It’s been an amazing 8 months since I first debuted my little blog. I am so thankful for everyone’s support and encouragement along the way. I am so excited to continue sharing my life with y’all in the new year.
I finished my sophomore year of college—halfway done that’s so crazy! I also started a job at Anthropologie and I love working there (the discount is pretty amazing too haha).
I ran my first 5k in years, although it was rough I was super proud of myself for finishing. My friends and I saw Luke Bryan again—he gets better every time I see him in concert! I also started my nannying job and spent an amazing summer having fun with my sweet kiddos.
I traveled to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to volunteer for Habitat for Humanity with my church. This was always one of my favorite weeks of the summer in high school so I was very excited when they opened up a trip for college students. We saw Taylor Swift in concert (twice)!!
We took a family vacation down to Charleston and ate our way through the city. I could eat cheesy grits every day of my life haha! The whole family went to see Kenny Chesney in concert. I also celebrated another birthday—SO close to 21!!
I hopped on a plane and flew across the pond to live in London for the next three and a half months. I traveled a LOT this month! Paris, Dublin, Stonehenge, and Bath!! A little school work was thrown in there along with adventures around London.
October was the month of rooftop cocktails and spontaneous trips. On an impulse we went on another day trip to Bath and bought tickets for a 36 hour trip to Amsterdam two days before we were supposed to leave. My aunt came to visit in London and we had an incredible time seeing Les Misérable, having high tea, and eating amazing cuisine!
I attended fashion events at Stylist and Vogue. We traveled to the seashore and rode rollercoasters in Brighton all day. I saw two more shows in the West End: Everyone’s Talking About Jamie and Wicked. I traveled to Edinburgh (where I got food poisoning) and shared a tiny twin bed with friends in Lisbon. My family came to visit London and I had so much fun showing them around my favorite city.
I went to Greenwich and stood in two different hemispheres at the same time. I drank SO much tea in tearooms all around London. We attended a fashion event at Elle and heard Rosie Huntington-Whiteley speak. Returned home from London and went to NYC for our annual Christmas trip. We saw Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Broadway—who knew it was over 5 hours long!
Looking back on the year, I am so grateful for all of the incredible opportunities I’ve had. 2018 has been a year of exploring and self discovery. I moved across an ocean by myself and was able to travel to places I’ve always dreamed of visiting. My passport is covered in stamps and I made memories that will last a lifetime. I’m so ready to see what 2019 has in store for me.
Happy New Year, friends!
